Republican Senator Arlen Specter Changes Lanes: He is now a Democrat!
I was shocked like everyone else today when Republican Senator Arlen Specter decided to become a Democrat. But I was even more shocked by colleagues of mine who were upset by the move.
Some saw it as a dark day for Republicans, (No, I think we just saw eight years of that).
Others questioned if the move was legal, (I'm not Judge Mathis, but I would say yes)
Sure, moving from one party to the next is usually not the wisest move (Hello Joe Lieberman), but Specter is not your usual Republican.
The cancer surviving Specter was once part of a solid group of Republicans called "Moderates." During the Ronald Reagan presidency, politicians like Specter and Jack Kemp voted on issues based on their views, regardless of party affiliation.
However, since the Reagan era, Republican moderates has been slowly losing their power to Republicans who were methodically moving to the right.
By the time George Bush and Karl Rove took over Washington D.C. eight years ago, moderates became even more extinct than a Cat Steven's 8-track.
My feeling is that Arlen Specter probably grew tired of fighting with his hard right colleagues and figured he could do more in the Democratic party.
By switching parties, Specter gives the Democrats a 60-seat, veto-proof majority in the Senate(presuming if Al Franken finally wins his seat in Minnesota).
Did Senator Arlen Specter make the right move?
Who knows?
Specter probably will not feel the full ramifications of his switch until his next Senatorial race in 2010 . Even as we speak, the Republicans are probably recruiting candidates who will use Specter's move as a campaign tool, stressing conservative values and that real Republicans would never turn Democrat.
Only then, in the hands of Pennsylvania voters who always supported for Arlen Specter, will we see if he made the right decision or not.

Lebron James and Cleveland Cavaliers Playoff Proposal (Heineken Spoof)
Spoofing the Heineken commercial where the women scream over shoes and men scream over beer, the Cavs has taken the ad to a whole another level with a playoff slant, (stay tuned for the emotional ending with Anderson Varejao and Delonte West).
The ad was shown during the recent Cavs playoff game with the Detroit Pistons at Quickens Loans Arena ("The Q"), but I'm sure it will find its way on TNT's "Inside The NBA" with Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith soon.
By the way, if anybody knows redheads in both Heineken commercials, tell them to Call Me!

Hoax? Howard Stern plays audio of Beyonce singing off key
On Wednesday, Beyonce claimed that the tape is fake.
In this day of technology, where everything can be doctored, the tape probably is fake. But regardless if the audio is Beyonce or not, it's still funny.

Missed Adam Lambert Perform "If I Can't Have You" on American Idol?
Adam Lambert- If I Can't Have You
http://www.americanidol.com/videos/season_8/performances/
Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syiEwpcIPWI
In years past, disco night on American Idol was a bad night for karaoke.
But last night was drastically different.
For the exception of Lil Rounds, admirable, but undistinguished version of Chaka Kahn's "I'm Every Woman" and Matt Giraud's Justin Timberlake-ish rendition of "Staying Alive", the rest of Idols did a great a job in revamping disco classics and making it their own.
Leading the way of course was Adam Lambert.
I do not know if Lambert will turn his time on American Idol into a successful music career like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, but Lambert continues to solidify himself as one of the best American Idol contestants ever.
This time around, Lambert (along with a American Idol music arranger) deconstructed Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You" from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack and made it into a slow burning R&B ballad.
It takes a special talent to take a recognizable Bee Gee's penned classic and change it way where it not only sounds completely different, but also gives it a new musical life..but he did it.
Adam Lambert has something that most music artists nowadays lack in the voice, emotion.
If you take the hottest songs by Keri Hilson or The Dream, the tunes might be good, but what about the vocals?
Are they simply singing a song for ring tone money or do you sense they are singing to someone specific? Last night, Lambert gave the appearance of seeing to someone specific; but even if he was not singing to anyone special, the feelings in his vocals easily flowed through the T.V.
Besides Lambert, other highlights include Danny Goeky's soulful version of Earth Wind and Fire's "September" as well as Kris Allen's Santana tinged version of Donna Summer's "She Works Hard For The Money".
The interesting thing is that even if something crazy happens and Adam Lambert is knocked out like Chris Daughtry a few years ago, the rest of this year's Idols (which also includes Anoop Desai and rocker Allison Iraheta) are so talented that any one of them they could beat a number of former Idol winners including Underwood and David Cook.
Ironically, this year is very reminiscent when talented big voiced divas Fantasia , Latoya London and Jennifer Hudson duked it out with Fantasia taking the crown.
The only difference is, this year might actually be a little bit better.

I Just Got Twittered by Oprah Winfrey and I Like It!
Following the footsteps of the celeb-Twitters like Diddy, Demi Moore and her husband Ashton Kuchter, on he show on Friday, Oprah Winfrey will becomes the latest celeb on Twitter ( http://twitter.com/oprah).
Is this earth shattering news? No, but it's becoming increasingly clear to me that Twitter is either about to or already has "Jumped The Shark".
This isn't a knock against Oprah Winfrey, I like Oprah.
In fact, Twittering is probably the best way for Winfrey to connected to her fans and vice versa, (even though I doubt that Oprah will tweet that she ate a bag of cookies at 2AM).
I just feel that whatever cool factor Twitter once had, it is now gone.
In essence, Twitter is the Octo-mom of technology....both started out interesting, but you hear about them so much you wish they would to go away.
The question now is whether Twitter-mania will soon end and go back to being a cool application or is it already over and the tech geeks has probably moved on to the latest greatest social network application?
Until we find out the answer, I'll just check out Oprah's tweets; maybe she can let me know if I could "Twitter" her buddy Gayle King.

Jamie Foxx Apologizes to Mylie Cyrus On The Tonight Show
During the first part of the interview, Foxx joked about almost dying on flight, singing a brief version of his # 1 hit "Blame it" and mimicking Diddy's dancing moves.
The interview took a serious turn when Foxx apologized to "Hannah Montana" star Mylie Cyrus for making funny, but crude jokes about the teen after she said was going to destroy Radiohead's career for blowing her off prior to their Grammy performance.

Lindsay Lohan's eHarmony Profile
She is attractive, creative and most importantly she wears an ankle bracelet.
Her name? It's Lindsay Lohan.
Yes that Lindsay Lohan who allegedly broke up with her gal pal Samantha Ronson and who is a constant presence in gossip mags and police blotters.
Spoofing herself on the website "Funny or Die", the red headed actress creates a fake eHarmony profile, where she looks for someone she can "spend the rest of my life with....or at least the rest of my probation with".
Funny stuff, but I wonder how many people will foolishly go on eHarmony to see if they could hook up with Ms. Lohan?

Lil Kim’s Wardrobe Malfunction on Dancing With The Stars (DWTS)
Even though, her plastic surgery still distract me at times, Lil Kim has proven to be a standout contestant on Dancing With The Stars.
This week Kim and her partner, Derek Hough danced to the Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock”.
However The Queen Bee ALMOST had a Janet Jackson moment, when her top almost popped off. Thanks to a quick costume adjustment by DWTS host Tom Tom Bergeron, Kim adverted disaster.
After the show Lil Kim said "Oh, the girls were trying to come out again! I hate it when they do that, they’re so nosy!”
They're little bit bigger than a nose Kim.....

Britain Got Talent's Susan Boyle Casts a Spell on Simon Cowell
Imagine Cowell's surprise when a frumpy woman 47 year old named Susan Boyle sauntered onto to the stage and told him that she was going to sing "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables".
Cowell scoffed as well as the audience that a woman with Boyle's looks could pull off such as feat. Yet, by the end of her performance, Cowell his fellow judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden as well as the audience fell in love with the Youtube sensation's superb operatic talent.
Can't wait to see what Simon Cowell has up his sleeve when his other hit U.K. show "X-Factor" comes back this summer.

11 Year Old Hangs Himself Because Of Bullying: This Must Stop!
Growing up, I was a victim of bullying and teasing and unfortunately, some of those scars are still with me today.
However, it seems since I was a kid, bullying has gotten so bad that more kids feel that their only option is to kill themselves.
This has to stop!
If you a see a kid being picked on help them.
Yell at the kids who is doing the bullying and help the kid being the taunting.
Tell them that its okay that they are different.
Tell them its okay that they don't wear the same clothes like everyone else
Tell them that they are more of leader because they don't follow anyone in a group.
Tell them that they have so much to give to the world that it doesn't matter what other kids think.
Make sure you tell their parents or teachers what's going on with the child, (too often kids keep their thoughts and feelings to themselves).
If kid's confidence is damaged, take them to counseling or find groups and/or activities where the child can excel, (a lack of self esteem is one reason why some of kids commit suicide).
Find activities to raise their confidence, which will hopefully lead to their long term success.
There is no reason why another child has to die because some insecure child thinks its OK to pick on someone who isn't cool or tough.
Life is far too much of a gift to lose...I only wish that Sirdeaner Walker's son Carl was still here to hear these words.

Fiona Apple is Back with "Why Try To Change Me Now?"
In 2005, Apple reappered after a long hiatus with the album "Extraordinary Machine". But then, the husky voiced honey with the the light blue eyes disappeared again without a trace.
Now she's back, with "Why Try To Change Me Now?", a a song that will be featured on a tribute EP dedicated to theater legend Cy Coleman.
"Why Try To Change Me Now?", is arguably one of Apple's best songs, since her first album "Tidal".
With a lilting piano melody, (which at times sounds like Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky"), Apple's tortured vocal prowess, perfectly slides into this moving torch ballad about love and heartache.
"Why Try To Change Me Now?"is a type of song that makes you wanting more from Miss Apple...let's hope she doesn't wait so long to bless us with another moving track.

Mike Tyson - Full Documentary [1 Hour / 30 Min]
Like a classic Greek tragedy, Tyson went from the bottom to the top in rapid fashion, then only to blow it all with runs in the law, jail, a high profile marriage, money grabbing mentors and his own self destructive personality.
The following documentary takes a look at the person that was once known as the "Baddest Man on The Planet".
Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head
For added flavor, I included piano driven karooke version of the track.

India.Arie - Chocolate High (feat. Musiq Soulchild)
The song sat for number of years before the duo decided to release it, which was smart move because "Chocolate High" is one of those songs that makes you feel good after you hear it. Plus, it's nice to hear a real duet with feeling that doesn't involve auto tunes or someone singing a hook and calling it a duet.
