Rolling Stone: Rihanna on Chris Brown "Even If It's A Mistake, It's My Mistake"
(Via Rolling Stone)
"Rihanna has opened up like never before about getting back together with her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, and what it means for her public image. "I decided it was more important for me to be happy," she tells contributing editor Josh Eells in the new issue of Rolling Stone, out Friday, January 31st. "I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.""

Nice! Rachel Nichols Leaves ESPN for CNN/Turner
(Via Big Lead Sports)
"Rachel Nichols, an ESPN fixture covering nearly every sport since 2004, is leaving the network for CNN/Turner. CNN announced the move late this afternoon.....Nichols starts at CNN Jan. 28th, and she’ll be anchoring the network’s Super Bowl coverage from New Orleans with Ernie Johnson. Expect to see her doing plenty of NBA work, as well as MLB in the postseason.
A source said Nichols had two offers from major networks, and one from an all-sports network, and ESPN’s offer was “tremendous.” It didn’t, however, include hosting duties. The move has been in the works since about October, the source said." Read More

Kobe Bryant on MJ, Kyrie and His Biggest Pet Peeve
Recently, Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant sat down with ESPN The Magazine' Chris Palmer.
The wide ranging interview went from everything from Michael Jordan to Django, but the best thing about Palmer's piece was how open the Black Mamba has become this season.
Maybe it's age. Maybe it's the fact that his career will be over soon or maybe the stress of playing with the Dwight Howard Lakers has made Bryant more open to talk and tweet to survive this season.
Whatever the case, 2013 will go down as the year that the Lakers sucked but Kobe became even more entertaining.
Here's are some excepts from the article:
Early on you got tired of the MJ comparisons, but a part of you had to be flattered, right?
I appreciated them, but after a while it just got old. They eventually faded away because I was putting together my own identity. But I’ll never forget how much I learned from MJ. I got so much from him. I knew what he did, I knew his moves and I used them. But for me the comparisons didn’t work because our situations were totally different. I came straight out of high school and played with a dominant big in Shaquille. Man, I was so young when I got to the NBA. What was I, like, 17? I mean, 17! The more you think about it, my situation was completely different than MJ’s, so the comparisons were just, you know, I stopped paying attention to them.
You versus LeBron? Who wins?
Me. No question. As far as one-on-one, I’m the best to ever do it...I played T-Mac. I cooked him. Roasted him. Wasn’t even close. Ask him, he’ll tell you. When I was about 20, we were in Germany doing some promotional stuff for that other sneaker company and we played basketball every day. We were in the gym all the time. We played three games of one-on-one to 11. I won all three games. One game I won 11-2. After the third game he said he had back spasms and couldn’t play anymore.
What about Kyrie Irving?
[Huge smile, laugh.] Kyrie’s my boy, but he knows he doesn’t have anything for me. He doesn’t want to see me. But it would be fun. I’ve beaten a lot of guys one-on-one, like Reggie Miller and Grant Hill. I used to play Caron Butler all the time in practice when he was with the Lakers. When I was a rookie I used to get Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones. They know. They’ll tell you. They used to come at me hard but I wasn’t having that. I love going one-on-one with someone. That’s what I do. I’ve never lost. It’s a whole different game, just to have them right in front of you and be able to do whatever you want.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I hate dog s---. I won’t go near it. So pissed when I step in it. I’ve got four dogs and I just don’t do dog doo. I’m a diva when it comes to that. Back in the day when I was in Italy, I used to order shoes from Nike all the time. I had to have all the fresh joints. I ordered the Elephant Print Jordans that were amazing. I went to the park to play and stepped in a huge pile of dog s---. You wouldn’t believe how mad I was. I was breaking off sticks to try to get it out of the crevices. I smacked them together and scraped the soles on the curb but couldn’t get it all out. Ever since that day I just can’t stand dog crap.

ESPN: Redesign The Cleveland Browns Uniform Contest!
(Via ESPN)
One of the NFL's most classic-looking teams -- or its most boring-looking team, depending on your point of view -- is headed for a face-lift.
That's the word out of Cleveland, where Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has announced that the team will be getting new uniforms for 2014. Haslam says the team's helmets won't be changed, but everything else is presumably fair game.
Naturally, we can't trust the Browns, the NFL or Nike to do this job correctly, so the task falls to you: Fire up your digital design software -- or break out your pack of magic markers, as the case might be -- and come up with a new uniform set for the Browns.
The rules are simple:
• Your entry must include a primary logo, a dark-jersey uniform and a white-jersey uniform. (If you like, you can also include secondary logos and one alternate uniform, but those aren't required.)
• Your uniform designs must include the team's current helmet, since that won't be changing. Sorry.
• Your designs can be created in any digital or analog medium (Illustrator, Photoshop, crayon, whatever) and can be submitted in any standard digital format (JPG, PDF, tiff, etc.).
• Please include your name and email address somewhere on the image file, like this. Also, your file names should include your last name (examples: Lukas.jpg, Lukas-home.pdf, etc.).
• Email your entry here. If you have more than one concept, feel free to enter as many times as you like.
• Deadline: Thursday, Jan. 31, noon ET.
The winning entries will be showcased in a future Uni Watch column. OK? OK! Now get crackin'

Catfished! Notre Dame's Manti Te’o’s Dead Girlfriend Story Is A Hoax!
This story feels like an episode of MTV's Catfish, take a look at what Deadspin.com said:
"...Did you enjoy the uplifiting story, the tale of a man who responded to adversity by becoming one of the top players of the game? If so, stop reading.
Manti Te'o did lose his grandmother this past fall. Annette Santiago died on Sept. 11, 2012, at the age of 72, according to Social Security Administration records in Nexis. But there is no SSA record there of the death of Lennay Marie Kekua, that day or any other. Her passing, recounted so many times in the national media, produces no obituary or funeral announcement in Nexis, and no mention in the Stanford student newspaper.
Nor is there any report of a severe auto accident involving a Lennay Kekua. Background checks turn up nothing. The Stanford registrar's office has no record that a Lennay Kekua ever enrolled. There is no record of her birth in the news. Outside of a few Twitter and Instagram accounts, there's no online evidence that Lennay Kekua ever existed."

KevinLockett.com: Set Goals with a Vision Board on Pinterest
Besides my pop culture blog Music is My Soul , here's a taste of my Digital/Social Media blog, KevinLockett.com:
....outside of a few social media jobs and my “Favorite Jheri Curls” board, I have done very little on Pinterest.
For brands like Home Depot and GQ Magazine, Pinterest is a great tool to promote products and it’s also a great way find images on your own interests, interior design, books ,fashion, etc.
However, Pinterest and I have never really clicked on a regular basis…That is until the idea of the vision board came along, and I logged in for the first time in months!
As I sat there looking at my blank virtual board, I had no idea what to put on it.
Should I focus on short-term or long-term goals?
Should these images be realistic or something that seems out of reach out, but could actually happen one day?
I always had aspirations to visit New York City, so I found a picture of a NYC skyline and repinned.
My Pinterest vision board had officially started.

Andre 3000 Says Pink Matter Remix with Big Boi and Frank Ocean is "Not" an Outkast Collabo
(Via Def Sounds)
Andre 3000:
It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.’
I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.
I never want to mislead our audience – I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.
I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn’t.

Justin Tiberlake Talks Return to The Studio in "I'm Ready" Clip
While its the new song with Jay-Z and Beyonce that had Twitter buzzing last night, Justin Timberlake did drop some new material this week....but it was just him talking about his return to the studio.
Clips is interesting, but for JT fans, its probably not enough. Since Timberlake's film career never exploded the he way he probably thought it would, its good to see him back making music again.
The ironic thing i s that when Timberlake released Future Sex Sounds in 2006, he was still the only Justin around the charts. Once he took his musical sabbatical, young Bieber jumped from YouTube to the Billboard charts and quickly became a star.
If the former Nsync-er and his producer Timbaland still has anything up music left up their sleeves, Timberlake easily take his Justin crown back.
If not, at least he made two great albums.
Destiny's Child To Release New Album this Year (Sort of)
Word came today that Destiny's Child will be releasing a new album called Love Songs on January 22. In actuality, "Love Songs" is another greatest hits package, but the focus will be on their chart topping ballads.
However, there will be a new song called “Nuclear” produced by Pharrell Williams.
Will this lead towards the first Destiny Child's album for the first time in eight years?
Destiny’s Child – Love Songs (Tracklisting):
1. “Cater 2 U” (2004 – Destiny Fulfilled)
2. “Killing Time” (1998 – Destiny’s Child)
3. “Second Nature” (1998 – Destiny’s Child)
4. “Heaven” (2002 – Simply Deep)
5. “Now That She’s Gone” (1999 – The Writing’s On The Wall)
6. “Brown Eyes” (2001 – Survivor)
7. “If” (2004 – Destiny Fulfilled)
8. “Emotion” (2001 – Survivor)
9. “If You Leave” (featuring Next) (1999 – The Writing’s On The Wall)
10. “TShirt” (2004 – Destiny Fulfilled)
11. “Temptation” (1999 – The Writing’s On The Wall)
12. “Say My Name” (Timbaland remix) (2002 – This Is The Remix)
13. “Love” (2004 – Destiny Fulfilled)
14. “Nuclear” (2013 – Destiny’s Child – Love Songs)
Complete list of 85th Annual Academy Award Nominations
The snubs for this year's Oscars were insane this year as Ben Affleck (Argo) Kathryn Bigelow ("Zero Thirty Dark"), Quentin Tarantino (Django) were shut out of the best director category.
Affleck's snub is quite surprising because a few months ago, most thought that the Oscars was going to be big night for his film "Argo".
On the acting side, both Matthew McConaughey and Javier Bardem received no love for their villainous roles in "Magic Mike" and "Skyfall" respectively, whil the "Django" acting quartet of Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L Jackson, Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx received zero nominations.
Although "Lincoln" received the most nominations with 12 nominations, watch for David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playback" to be the big winner for Oscar night.
Russell who didn't have the greatest reputation back in the day (his fight with George Clooney on the set of "Three Kings" is legendary) , has clawed his way back towards Hollywood's good graces in recent years.
First with the Oscar nominated film "The Fighter' with Mark Wahlberg a few years ago and now with "Silver Linings Playbook starring new Hollywood favorites Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) and Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games).
While David O Russell's sinner to saint is a comeback story that Hollywood loves, the better tale would have been the race between him and Oscar-snubbed counterparts Affleck, Bigelow and Tarantino for Best Director
Ironically, the trio he trio of Affleck, Bigelow and Tarantino will be fighting out with Steven Spielberg for Best Director at this Sunday's Golden Globes , but without David O. Russell who was snubbed for that awards ceremony.

Chris Rock Talks W. Kamau Bell, Guns and Jay Pharaoh at 2013 TCA
W. Kamau Bell host of FX's "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell and the show's exectutive producer Chris Rock stopped by the winter Television Critics Association; and as usually, Rock had some great copy for the press:
On his protege W. Kamau Bell: "I'm trying to get him out of his young comic head, and to embrace comedy as a whole. I'm also trying him in other ways. Having a show like this is like being a CEO. I'm trying to get him to be a good boss."
On gun control: "You should have to have a mortgage to buy a gun. No one with a mortgage has ever gone on a spree. A mortgage is a true background check. And if you go to jail for 30 years, you still have to pay the mortgage."
On Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah: "I think he's funny and he's underused," he said of the actor behind SNL's President Obama. "It took him two years to play the black president? Seems odd."
Bell was equally funny, when a reporter asked him, what the W. meant in his name:
"The W is Walter, which is my dad's name but Totally Biased With Walter Bell sounds like an insurance program."

Seriously? Lil Wayne Tattooed "Baked" on His Forehead?
Courtesy of Miss Info, I came across a new pic of Weezy's new tat "Baked" on his forehead.
Look, if Lil Wayne want to put an ad for "Steak and Shake" on his chin that's his business.
The problem is there are going to be fans of the "Young Money" leader who will put their own version of "Baked" on their forehead.
But that's what kids do.
They follow what's hot in popular culture.
When I first started college, I was so into Public Enemy and X-Clan that I wore my $2 African medallion everywhere, (showering with one, not so smart)
A few years later, I dropped the medallion and followed A Tribe Called Quest's lead by wearing the pajama like pants from their "I My Wallet in El Sugundo" video.
When I look at pics from those times, I usually say "Woah, how did that happen"?
But that was the fashion of the times and everyone was doing it.. just like are doing today with tats.
The difference is, a year or two later when I went with the Jodeci boots and overalls, I sent my Q-Tips pants to Goodwill.
Getting rid of tats? Not so easy.
One of these days, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa will wake up one day and say, why did I tat my whole body?
Luckily for them, if they saved their money, the tat removal will be expensive and painful but images like "Baked" will be gone forever.
For the young adults following their lead, who may not have the funds to remove their tattoos, these youthful bouts of fun might cost them jobs or relationships in the future.
What youthful fashion statement do you regret?
