Lea Michele Should Be Praised Not Criticized For Cosmopolitan Cover

OK, I knew things were out of hand when people were up in arms about Lea's October 2010 GQ spread with Glee co-stars Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith, but this is going too far.

Zap2It reported that Fox News" found some moms who are absolutely appalled by the photos. The parents claim that because Michele plays a high school "good girl" on TV, she should uphold that image off-screen as well."

I figured that after the GQ incident, some of these appalled moms should have remembered that Lea Michele is a 24 year old woman, not a”good girl” in high school. Since that didn't work, here's a different approach.

Even though Jennifer Love Hewitt was in the "Ghost Whisperer", she really didn't talk to ghosts talk..she was acting, just like Ms. Michele.

Rachel Berry is a character in high school who is talented and annoying.

Lea is a real-life grown woman who is talented and sexy.

Who cares if she wore a plunging neckline on the Cosmo cover?

I see more skin in a Victoria's Secret's catalog.

Instead of jumping on Lea Michele, she should really be praised.

Praised for not going to rehab or getting arrested every few months.

Praised for not making a sex tape and then spinning that into 20 reality shows on cable.

And most importantly...

Praised for becoming successful by not looking like the stereotypical girl next door.

A few months ago in Marie Claire UK Magazine, Lea Michele said:

I grew up in a community where what I looked like wasn’t considered beautiful and then I work on this show that proves it doesn’t matter what you look like, beauty is on the inside. Now when people say that [I'm beautiful], I don’t feel like they’re lying. ‘Glee’ has shown me that I am beautiful, that I can be beautiful no matter what I look like, what my weight is."

Even in the March Cosmo Magazine, Michele talks about being a“stable-relationship junkie" with her boyfriend and being "thankful" for not getting a nose job, which is especially encouraging since so many high school girls are getting plastic surgery these days.

Maybe these outraged moms should consider Lea Michele's words before going crazy her next photo spread.

Bullying Victim Nadin Khoury on The View (Eagles DeShawn Jackson Appears)

(Via WorldStar Hip Hop)

"The 13-year-old boy who was bullied and beat up by a "wolf pack" of teenagers in Pennsylvania last month received a surprise visit from his favorite football player on live television. Nadin Khoury was walking home from school on Jan. 11 when he was randomly accosted by seven teens who attacked him for 30 minutes. The incident was filmed by one of the assailants, which helped propel the sickening incident into the national spotlight."

New! Raphael Saadiq Channels Stax & Issac Hayes on "Good Man"

I was flipping by Music Choice during the Glee marathon on Oxygen, when I came across Raphael Saadiq's latest effort "Good Man".

From the first note, the song reminds me Issac Hayes with "Walk on By" with its Stax like horns, strings and lush chugging moves with a dash of Hip Hop.

When Saadiq first left Tony, Toni, Tone, I like a lot of people expected great work from the TTT front man, but outside of his work with Lucy Pearl, Saadiq's solo efforts was inconsistent and at times disappointing.

However with the release of 2008's"The Way I See It", Saadiq created a winning formula by digging in the crates of Motown and creating an album that was loved by critics and fans around the world.

If "Good Man" is any indication,  Raphael Saadiq's 21st century spin on 60'sand 70's  soul should  continue with the album "Stone Rollin’, due out in March.

Poles or Polls? Uncle Luke Runs For Mayor of Miami!

Only in America!

One minute you’re fighting the United States over censorship in your 20's, now you’re running for Mayor in the 40's.

Welcome to former 2 Live Crew member Luther Campbell's quest to become Mayor of Miami Dade County. The position became available after the recall of Carlos Alvarez on March 15th.

Here is an excerpt from Campbell's interview with Miami New Times.

"I am mad frustrated. I have always been involved in politics, going back to my battles in the city of Miami Beach, dealing with the city commissioners and the mayor. I ran my own nightclub, and I believed African-Americans were treated badly during Memorial Day weekend.
I've thought about running for public office before, but someone would always end up talking me out of it...so I always backed out. But I'd end up frustrated because they didn't do anything. I'd give them ideas and they would just tell me what they wanted to hear.

I get in my car, ride around Liberty City, and everything looks the same as when I was in the neighborhood growing up. I see the same crimes in the same areas. Officers and residents are still getting killed in the community I grew up in.....Why aren't we getting it right in Miami-Dade? Why is our government only serving one set of people? That's what is pushing me to run.

...The current administration of Mayor Carlos Alvarez hasn't created any new jobs, yet we keep these government employees who have been around for decades and aren't doing anything. Then there's affordable housing. People in the James E. Scott projects have been kicked out of their homes and forced to move to other parts of the county

...Instead of this massive incompetence, we need to build gated communities with security-guard entrances in the inner city. Then people would feel just as safe as those wealthier folks who live in Fisher Island and the Kendall suburbs."

If Arnold Schwarzenegger can become Governor and Roald Reagan can go from starring in movies with a monkey to becoming President, why can't a guy who said "Don't Stop Get it Get it" become mayor?

I just can't wait for the inauguration party
