How did it come to this?
The Sex Pistols who spurred the punk movemment back in the 1970's has introduced a fragrance.
Pistols frotman Johnny Rotten collaborated with Etat Libre D’Orange on the fragrance which is describe as having “The Spirit of Punk” in a bottle.
Wait there's more.
“To wear this scent, you must resist tradition, fight conformity, and disregard aromatic conventions. In the spirit of punk, you must be willing to express yourself with abandon. You take risks and you wouldn’t be adverse to creating a little mayhem.”
Now to be fair Rotten can do whatever he wants to make a dollar on his case, a pound; and the to be hinest, the Sex Pistols did not make as much money as the Clash or the pop friendly stykings of Billy Idol or even The Police who started out in the punk scene.
But it is still sad to see a group that once was against the establlshment and now part of it, but wrapped in a flowery, punkish scent.
Sex Pistols: The Fragrance with packaging which looks the inspired by the Sex Pistols’ hit 1977 track, “God Save the Queen album cover, will hit stores nnext month.
