LeBron James Letter: " I'm coming back to Cleveland"

(Via Sports Illustrated)

"Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I’m their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now." Read full letter at  SI.com

Gloria James To Arresting Cop: 'I Don't Trust Your Kind'

(Via TMZ) LeBron James' mother slapped a Miami Beach valet so hard in the face, she lost her balance and fell to the ground -- then told a police officer, "I don't trust your kind" ... this according to the police report.

The arresting officer says he tried to question 43-year-old Gloria James about the alleged incident at the scene early this morning ... but he got "no response just a stare." After a while, she eventually admitted to having a "minor verbal altercation" with the valet.

The cop says the valet explained that he retrieved James' car and put it on the valet ramp in front of the hotel while Gloria and a female driver stood around talking to people for 30 minutes. Finally, the valet says he turned the car off.

The valet says Gloria then approached him and stated, "Where are my f**king keys and continued yelling profanities at the victim."

The report explains, "Then for no apparent reason the arrestee struck the victim with an open had [sic] across the right side of his face and in the process causing herself to lose her balance and falling to the ground."

After Gloria was transported to a nearby police station, the report continues, a shift commander -- Lt. Acosta -- tried to speak with James who responded, "I'm trying to trust you but I don't trust your kind ... I don't trust that officer who arrested me."

Gloria then told police she "was not going to cooperate because she did nothing wrong."

Charles Barkley Blasts Lebron James for "Punk Moves"

Appearing on ESPN Radio 103.3 FM in Dallas/Fort Worth, TNT analyst responded to Miami Heat's Lebron James tweet where he said he was taking "mental notes" of everyone who criticized this summer.

Barkley:

" "I heard about LeBron James’ little tweet…He’s making a list of people that said something bad about him. Well, I want to make sure my name is on that list, because I thought that little one-hour special was a punk move. I thought them dancing on stage was a punk move…Him joining Dwayne Wade’s team was disappointing to me…

"He's got enough people kissing his ass with his family and all the people who work for him," Barkley said. "We don't have to tell him what he wants to hear all the time. That's one of the reasons why ... some of these young guys ... my opinion is he should have stayed in Cleveland.

If he wants to take that as criticism, so be it. He know where I be. I’m easy to find. I’m on TV every week."

Update 6/11: Rashard Lewis says Rumors are False About Relationship With Lebron James Girlfriend

"I'm not a baby mama. There's a lot more to me than that," says Savannah Brinson the long time girlfriend of Lebron James.

This month the usual media shy Brinson is featured in the latest issue of Harper's Bazzar, where she talks about variety of topics including number 6's  decision to move the family from Akron/Cleveland to play for the Miami Heat:

"Personally, Miami was not my favorite place. Vacationing there is great: You go for three days and get some sun, and it's time to go home," she explains. But the weather helped win her over. "When they told me it doesn't get any colder than 50 degrees, that sold me. ...."It will definitely be an adjustment, but we'll make it."

Larry Bird on Lebron James Move from Cleveland to Miami

(Via Insidehoops.com)

"That's why we have free agency," he told Dakich. "When you get an opportunity to get an open market, anything can happen. I'm like a lot of people. I'd like to have seen LeBron stay in Cleveland but his desire was to go play with some great players and try to win championships. You've got to do what's best for yourself. He's a very, very talented young man, a great basketball player and he wanted to go play with Wade and Bosh. He had the ability to do that and he did it.

"I remember back in my days, I'd rather play against Earvin Johnson than play with him," he said. "I know he's a great player and you always want to play with the best but I just loved to compete against him. He's a guy I always compared myself to. I'd rather stay in Boston and let him stay in L.A. and just compete every year in the Finals. That's what made me a better player. It would've been too easy if we played together."
