What The!! David Spade Used To Date Hall Pass's Nicky Whelan?!?!
So I was thumbing through the latest Men's Health with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt on the cover, when this photo stopped me dead in my tracks.
Through further inspection, I found out that this lovely lady was Nicky Whelan who is in Owen Wilson's latest flick "Hall Pass".
Through even more inspection, I learned that although she's currently Guns N Rose's DJ Ashba, she used to date David Spade!
The crazy thing is that Spade was dating her when he got former Playboy Playmate Jillian Grace pregnant a few years ago! (Almost as impressive is Owen Wilson's Hall Pass co-star Jason Sudeikis who dated Mad Men's January Jones who plays Don Draper's ex-wife Betty).
Even though he went through some baby mama drama with Whelan and Grace, I love David Spade!
I don't know what technique this little dude uses to pull attractive women like them, Heather Locklear, Padma Lakshmi , Julie Bowen, Brittany Daniel and many others, but he would make a whole lot of money if he put all of his dating tips in a book...and I'll be the first one in line to buy that best seller!

Idris Elba Not a Big Fan of Tyler Perry's Madea or Big Momma
Star of the Marvel Comics film "Thor", Idris Elba was the guest speaker for Lens Project’s “Artist Spotlight” at the Paul Robeson Center of Rutgers University’s Newark campus.
The gathering was much in the same vain as "Inside The Actors Studio, where Elba answered questions about his career including his thoughts on the Oscars to the death of his character Stringer Bell on "The Wire", (“I was a huge fan of Stringer Bell being killed off right at the height of his popularity. I commend the writers for a realistic view of living a life of crime…as a drug dealer you either end up dead or in prison.”)
When a question about Spike Lee vs. Tyler Perry arose, the start of BBC's Luther spoke from the heart:
"Can I be candid?” he asks before turning to face the audience directly. “I don’t like all of Tyler Perry’s films. Yes, I did work with Tyler for “Daddy’s Little Girls” because it portrayed a positive image of a black father. I am happy for Tyler’s success…we need Tyler Perry…by going to support his movies, we need to show economic strength. But we are also responsible for elevating film. I’m not with buffoonish characters like Madea or Big Momma.”

(Via Huffington Post)
"Denver traded Carmelo Anthony on Monday night. Utah traded Deron Williams on Wednesday. The Clippers traded Baron Davis on Thursday. What about the rest of the NBA?
Several teams scrambled to get trades done before the trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday. Here are some of the trades that were completed in time.
The Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to a deal that would send center Kendrick Perkins and guard Nate Robinson to the Thunder in exchange for forward Jeff Green and Nedad Krsitc, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Boston also traded Luke Harangody and Semih Erdan to Cleveland for a second round pick.
The Thunder made a second deal before the deadline, agreeing to send D.J. White and Mo Peterson to the Bobcats for Nazr Mohammed.
Houston traded Shane Battier to Memphis for center Hasheem Thabeet and a first-round draft pick.
The Rockets also sent Aaron Brooks to the Suns for Goran Dragic and another first-round draft pick."
The Portland Trail Blazers agreed to send two first-round picks to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace.

Glee Inspired! Jamie Foxx - Blame It (feat. T-Pain)
Here's the the official video of Jamie Foxx's "Blame it", which features Ron Howard, Quincy Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Forest Whitaker, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cedric The Entertainer, Morris Chestnut, Clifton Powell, Alex Thomas, Tatyana Ali, Bill Bellamy.
Interstingly enough, I came across a couple of posts quetioning why Jamie put Ron Howard in the video.
Hmmm, let think about this for a minute.
Let's see , Ron Howard who directed film like "Splash", "Back Draft", "Frost/Nixon", "The Divaci Code" is probably worth hundreds of millions of dollars and the persons commenting on a website about Mr. Howard is probably worth roughly about a hundred of pennies.
I'm not much of a mathematician, but I think Richie Cunningham, wins.

'Smashing Pumpkins Guitarist Was Siamese Dream' Cover Girl
(Via Yahoo) "Billy Corgan has revealed a really weird coincidence: the latest female bassist to join Smashing Pumpkins may have a history with the band -- she says she was one of the two young girls featured on the cover of the group's 1993 album "Siamese Dream." Nicole Fiorentino evidently just broke the news to the singer/guitarist, and he tweeted it to fans last night. "She said she didn't want us to know because she thought maybe we wouldn't let her be in the band," he wrote".

Steve Stoute's Open Letter To The Grammy's
Over the course of my 20-year history as an executive in the music business and as the owner of a firm that specializes in in-culture advertising, I have come to the conclusion that the Grammy Awards have clearly lost touch with contemporary popular culture. My being a music fan has left me with an even greater and deeper sense of dismay — so much so that I feel compelled to write this letter. Where I think that the Grammys fail stems from two key sources: (1) over-zealousness to produce a popular show that is at odds with its own system of voting and (2) fundamental disrespect of cultural shifts as being viable and artistic.
As an institution that celebrates artistic works of musicians, singers, songwriters, producers and technical specialists, we have come to expect that the Grammys upholds all of the values that reflect the very best in music that is born from our culture. Unfortunately, the awards show has become a series of hypocrisies and contradictions, leaving me to question why any contemporary popular artist would even participate. How is it possible that in 2001 The Marshall Mathers LP — an album by Eminem that ushered in the Bob Dylan of our time — was beaten out by Steely Dan (no disrespect) for Album Of The Year? While we cannot solely utilize album sales as the barometer, this was certainly not the case. Not only is Eminem the best-selling artist of the last decade, but The Marshall Mathers LP was a critical and commercial success that sold over 10 million albums in the United States (19 million worldwide), while Steely Dan sold less than 10% of that amount and came and went as quietly as a church mouse. Or consider even that in 2008 at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, after going into the night as the most-nominated artist, Kanye West’s Graduation was beaten out for Album Of The Year by Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters. (This was the first time in 43 years that a jazz album won this category.) While there is no doubt in my mind of the artistic talents of Steely Dan or Herbie Hancock, we must acknowledge the massive cultural impact of Eminem and Kanye West and how their music is shaping, influencing and defining the voice of a generation. It is this same cultural impact that acknowledged the commercial and critical success of Michael Jackson’s Thriller in 1984.
Just so that I’m not showing partiality to hip-hop artists (although it would be an entirely different letter as to how hip-hop music has been totally diminished as an art form by this organization), how is it that Justin Bieber, an artist that defines what it means to be a modern artist, did not win Best New Artist? Again, his cultural impact and success are even more quantifiable if you factor in his YouTube and Vevo viewership — the fact that he was a talent born entirely of the digital age whose story was crafted in the most humble method of being “discovered” purely for his singing ability (and it should be noted that Justin Bieber plays piano and guitar, as evidenced on his early viral videos).
So while these very artists that the public acknowledges as being worthy of their money and fandom are snubbed year after year at the Grammys, the awards show has absolutely no qualms in inviting these same artists to perform. At first I thought that you were not paying attention to the fact that the mental complexion of the world is becoming tanned, that multiculturalism and poly-ethnicity are driving new meaning as to what is culturally relevant. Interesting that the Grammys understands cultural relevance when it comes to using Eminem’s, Kanye West’s or Justin Bieber’s name in the billing to ensure viewership and to deliver the all-too-important ratings for its advertisers.
What truly inspired the writing of this letter was that this most recent show fed my suspicions. As the show was coming to a close and just prior to presenting the award for Album Of The Year, the band Arcade Fire performed “Month of May” — only to… surprise… win the category and, in a moment of sheer coincidence, happened to be prepared to perform “Ready to Start.”
Does the Grammys intentionally use artists for their celebrity, popularity and cultural appeal when they already know the winners and then program a show against this expectation? Meanwhile the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences hides behind the “peer” voting system to escape culpability for not even rethinking its approach.
And I imagine that next year there will be another televised super-close-up of an astonished front-runner as they come to the realization before a national audience… that he or she was used.
You are being called to task at this very moment, NARAS.
And to all of the artists that attend the Grammys: Stop accepting the invitation to be the upset of the year and demand that this body upholds its mission for advocacy and support of artistry as culture evolves.
Demand that they change this system and truly reflect and truly acknowledge your art.
Steve Stoute

Odd Future On Jimmy Fallon: Gnomes, Ski Masks, Smoke & Mos Def Oh My!
I never heard of Odd Future until my Twitter blew up after they performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The next day when my Spin Magazine arrived, they were featured as one "11 Next Big Things for 2011" .
Although they don't like being tagged with the "Horror Core Rap" label, their macabre lyric and menancing DMX-like delivery, they do remind me of a cross between the RZA's spin off 90's group Grave Diggaz with the skater fashion sense of the Neptunes' Pharell Williams.

Hollywood Reporter's Piece is More Than Just Bieber
In this week's edition of The Hollywood Reporter, there is a great cover story entitled" The Business of Justin Bieber".
The article isn't your usual puff piece about "The Biebs", (did I just lose my man card for saying that?).
It sheds a great on how how he got discovered,(including how his now manager stalked Bieber's mom down in Canada after seeing him on YouTube) as well as showcase the men who is shaping his career: Usher and Island Def Jam's L.A. Reid
The L.A. Reid piece is especially intriguing, because Reid also delves into loss of friendship with Janet Jackson the success and the mistakes he made with then teen R&;B singer Usher, when his voice changed while signed to Reid's label with Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, La'Face Records in the 90's.
Reid: “I wasn’t there for Usher. I heard him at a showcase, and he couldn’t sing. I was embarrassed. It was like: ‘Damn, where’s the voice...I wanted to drop him. I wanted to be out of business with him. I broke his heart
...Then someone said to me: ‘Don’t be a fool. Don’t sell your stock in Usher. He’s still going to be a star.....that person was Puffy.”
Says Usher: “No man is perfect and no executive knows how to make all the right decisions. I was shielded from a lot of it. My mother felt it more than anything. But losing my voice f---ed me up. I had to figure it out.”
...“I know how to be encouraging now,” Reid says. “I wasn’t that way to Usher. I didn’t give him the same kind of love and support at the time. But Puffy was right.”
(I had an "Oh crap" moment when I read this section, because I always wondered why Usher ended up spending time with Puffy in New York during the mid 90's, now I know why).
For anybody who want an in-depth look at not just the success of Justin Bieber, but inner workings of the music industry (like did they really negotiate with Justin Timberlake to sign Bieber or not), this a great read!

It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering."

Lindsay Lohan's Chose White Dress Symbolize "Innocence?" (Photo)
She might have chosen her white dress to symbolize "innocence" as TMZ stated, but it really symbolize green as in cash!
According to ABC News " "Glavis" design from (Kimberly) Ovitz' pre-Fall collection is sold out at every online boutique that carries Ovitz's designs", (at $575a pop that's a pretty good score, especially if Lohan cut a side deal to wear the dress).
However, it doesn't matter how hot she may look in that snug little number, if Lohan can't get out of this felony grand theft case, the next outfit she'll be wearing for awhile will be jumpsuit orange.

Funny! Prince to Kim Kardashian "Shake That A$$ Or Get Off My Stage!" (Video)
(Via MissInfo.Net)
Prince performed at MSG for the last of his New York “Welcome 2 America” shows. And according to all of my despicable gloating friends who went (grr!!), the 52-year-old Purple One was on fire.
But leave it Kim Kardashian to insert herself into every unwelcome moment. Prince was pulling women onstage to dance with him. One sturdy woman did an enthusiastic bump. But Kim just kee-kee-ed onstage and didn’t jiggle a solitary glute.
Prince doesn’t care how hot you are (she did look super hot), or how many endorsements you have (Skechers soft porn), or which jockstrap you are making o-faces with and dragging to STK for photo ops (Kris Humphries? *shrug*).
If you can’t add to Prince’s show, then you have no purpose for Prince. So Kim got the boot. LOL.
Watch the video of Kim Kardashian and Prince’s awkward encounter…(as well as Cee-Lo and Prince performing “Crazy”)
After the jump!
Prince invites Kim Kardashian onstage and dismisses her too, lol.
To be fair, Prince told a woman who did dance, to “get the hell off the stage,” too. And Kim did manage to get back up and redeem herself: “Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!”

Adele - Rolling In The Deep (Video)
The best thing about Adele outside of her soulful voice is that she lives in the U.K. If she was American, there would be very few producers in the U.S. who would how to match her retro vocals with a 60's soul vibe. The same goes for Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Estelle.
UK producers do not seem afraid to put music around their artists that fit them, not have the artist fit the producer.

On the "Superbowl" Glee episode, the cast performed a mash-up of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll". While MJ's "Thriller" video was aG rated version of "American Werewolf in London", this video vibes with its full horror-ific essence.

The Warblers probably won't be around next season and Kurt probably rejoin "New Directions" sooner or later, but I'm always impressed by the different acapella versions that Darren Criss and his crew perform.

Lea Michele Should Be Praised Not Criticized For Cosmopolitan Cover
OK, I knew things were out of hand when people were up in arms about Lea's October 2010 GQ spread with Glee co-stars Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith, but this is going too far.
Zap2It reported that Fox News" found some moms who are absolutely appalled by the photos. The parents claim that because Michele plays a high school "good girl" on TV, she should uphold that image off-screen as well."
I figured that after the GQ incident, some of these appalled moms should have remembered that Lea Michele is a 24 year old woman, not a”good girl” in high school. Since that didn't work, here's a different approach.
Even though Jennifer Love Hewitt was in the "Ghost Whisperer", she really didn't talk to ghosts talk..she was acting, just like Ms. Michele.
Rachel Berry is a character in high school who is talented and annoying.
Lea is a real-life grown woman who is talented and sexy.
Who cares if she wore a plunging neckline on the Cosmo cover?
I see more skin in a Victoria's Secret's catalog.
Instead of jumping on Lea Michele, she should really be praised.
Praised for not going to rehab or getting arrested every few months.
Praised for not making a sex tape and then spinning that into 20 reality shows on cable.
And most importantly...
Praised for becoming successful by not looking like the stereotypical girl next door.
A few months ago in Marie Claire UK Magazine, Lea Michele said:
“I grew up in a community where what I looked like wasn’t considered beautiful and then I work on this show that proves it doesn’t matter what you look like, beauty is on the inside. Now when people say that [I'm beautiful], I don’t feel like they’re lying. ‘Glee’ has shown me that I am beautiful, that I can be beautiful no matter what I look like, what my weight is."
Even in the March Cosmo Magazine, Michele talks about being a“stable-relationship junkie" with her boyfriend and being "thankful" for not getting a nose job, which is especially encouraging since so many high school girls are getting plastic surgery these days.
Maybe these outraged moms should consider Lea Michele's words before going crazy her next photo spread.
