Artie Lange Predicted That Conan O'Brien's Late Night Move Would Not Work
Although Howard Stern sidekick is trying to get himself together after trying to commit suicide, back in 2008 he basically told Conan O'Brien that his move to the Tonight Show would not work and he would take the money and run: Artie Lange: "Cheers to Conan for taking the $40 million and not working".
Although O'Brien ended up with $32 mllion instead of $40 mill, it looks like Mr. Lange was a prophet.

Corinne Bailey Rae Billboard Magazine Cover Story
Fllowing the tragic death of her husband (who died from a drug overdose in 2008,) its good to see her back and challenging herself musicially.
Corinne Bailey Rae's sophomore album, The Sea will be release on on January 26
Here's a piece from the Billboard article:
Almost as quickly as she showed up, Corinne Bailey Rae has disappeared.
The U.K. singer/songwriter just finished a highly abbreviated set at the 150-capacity Joe's Pub -- one of two New York gigs in early December, and her first live dates here since 2007 -- and the standing-room-only crowd that eagerly awaited her arrival is now protesting her early exit.
"One more song!" a few rowdy fans yell. Rae, clad in a lavender metallic jumpsuit that slinks over her petite frame and simple, black flats, is apologetic. It's not her call, she explains; another band is about to go onstage. Finally, folks reluctantly start to file out of the venue, still absorbing what they heard.

Teddy Pendergrass RIP (Dead at 59)
Johnny Gill has his voice, Gerald Levert had the teddy bears, while Bobby Brown channeled his on stage bravado, but nobody could ever match the sheer R&B force of Teddy Pendergrass who died today at 59 years old.
According to the Canadian Press, Pendergrass died at a hospital in suburban Philadelphia. The singer underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and had "a difficult recovery," said his son Teddy Pendergrass II.
Former lead singer for Harold Melvin and Blue Notes ("If You Don't Know Me By Now', "Wake Up Everybody, Don't Leave Me This Way"), Pendergrass became an R& B legend with his gruff vocals, for "Women Only" concerts and his magical musical pairing with Philadelphia International's Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.
The combination of Pendergrass' "Come Here Woman" vocals and the Philly Soul production team of Gamble, Huff, McFadden, Whitehead and others, TP churned out classic hits like "Turn Off The Lights", "The Whole Town's Laughing at Me" "Love TKO" , "Turn Off The Lights" and many more.
Tragedy struck in 1982, when Pendergrass was involved in an auto accident where the brakes on his Rolls Royce failed and his the car hit a guard rail and two trees. The accident left the crooner paralyzed from the waist down.
(The interesting thing is that the year of his accident in 1982, introduced two albums that would set the template for R&B male singers in the 1980's: Prince's "1999" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller").
Though he lost his raw sexuality on stage persona, Pendergrass became a beacon for paraplegic everywhere as he continued to make albums and tour.
Today there are no Teddy Pendergrasses.
For the exception of R. Kelly, Maxwell, Raheem DeVaughn and few others, Pendergrass' passionate vocals and perform until you sweated through all of your clothes off style has been replaced by auto-tunes, abs and whomever can dance the best.

Yeah Conan! O'Brien Refuses To Follow Leno in Open Letter
Conan O'Brien's full statement:
But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.
Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn't the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.
So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn't matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.
There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.
Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it's always been that way.
Yours,
Conan
People of Earth:
In the last few days, I've been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I've been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I've been absurdly lucky. That said, I've been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.
But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.
Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. ...Detox was initially set for release several years ago, but Dr. Dre was again swamped with solo projects from several artists on Aftermath and the album was gradually delayed.

Cowell's decision is the biggest threat yet to what has consistently been the country's top-rated TV program and a true cultural force. This season, original host Paula Abdul has been replaced by Ellen DeGeneres.

Blame it on A-A-A-Alcohol: MARIAH CAREY BLAMES DANIELS FOR ‘THE SPEECH’
(Yahoo News)
LOS ANGELES – Mariah Carey jokingly blames her loony acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards on director Lee Daniels.
“The thing is me and Lee hadn’t see each other in a long time, and then he was presenting my award, so he starts off immediately with inside jokes,” Carey said backstage at the People’s Choice Awards Wednesday night, where she was named favorite R&B artist.
“We had splashes of champagne, and I love Lee but he’s a bad influence,” the singer said and laughed.
Carey gave a long, rambling acceptance speech after being named Breakthrough Actress for her performance in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” on Tuesday. Daniels directed the movie.
The video of her speech was one of the most popular on the Internet, and led to jokes at Carey’s expense.
The 39 year old says she was rushing to receive the honor and didn’t eat enough. She also says people shouldn’t take the speech too serious.
“If people don’t understand me and think I’m just like this girl that stands by a microphone and sings ‘Hero,’ then they’re definitely not going to get me,” she explained. “But if people knew me better, they would understand I have a sense of humor, and basically that’s what gets me through life.”

Update 6:50PM : TMZ is reporting that Leno is moving back to his old time slot.
Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided -- whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien. We're told Jay and Conan have both been told of the changes. As for Jay, interestingly, he'll get what he always wanted -- his 11:30 PM time slot.

NBC is in discussions internally and with station executives about moving talk-show host Jay Leno back to late night. But late Thursday the network officially declined to comment on reports that Leno, who has been hosting a 10 p.m. comedy show stripped across weeknights, will be sent back to his more comfortable perch at 11:30 p.m.
A move back to late night would undoubtedly mean that Leno would stop doing his five-night-a-week primetime show that debuted in September. The timing of the move is unclear but it seems to be sooner rather than later.
TMZ reported that Leno's show would be put on hiatus starting Feb. 1, and that after the Olympics -- which end Feb. 28 -- Leno would return to late night. It is unclear what such a move would mean for Conan O'Brien, who took over "The Tonight Show" in June, while Leno prepared for his new primetime role.

New York Jets Braylon Edwards Trashes Cleveland Browns
“I wasn’t into being there (Cleveland) . It was a situation where, what am I supposed to do?” the Detroit native and University of Michigan alum asked rhetorically.
“What am I supposed to say? ‘Damn, I got drafted here and I don’t want to play here’? It was a situation where you play the [political] game. Nobody says they don’t want to get drafted somewhere, in a situation like that. Bernie Kosar was the only one.”

Edwards’ assessment of the Browns quarterback situation is even bleaker. Asked if anyone could succeed at that spot in Cleveland, he said: “No, not at all. Brady Quinn(notes) and I are real good friends and I wish the best for him. But no.”
