Johhny Depp to Cameo in 21 Jump Street Reboot

For more than a year now, rumors have been floating that Johnny Depp — who got his start as a teen hunk on the ’80s undercover-cops-in-high-school series 21 Jump Street — might jump into Sony’s big-screen reboot for some kind of cameo. Well, after seemingly endless speculation, a source close to the production now tells EW that a small, uncredited Depp cameo does indeed look likely to happen.
No details are available yet on what character Depp might play in the film, which begins shooting this month with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the lead roles. But, in an interview with EW last year, Depp himself jokingly envisioned popping up as his original character, Tom Hanson: “Someone will say, ‘Whatever happened to Tom Hanson?’ and they’ll find me somewhere hoarding jars of peanut butter and shaking in my underpants.”

I respect Oprah quite a bit, but she's dead wrong. Desperate Housewives
is a soap. The Good Wife is a soap opera. Army Wives is a soap. Heck, even WWE is soap opera but wrapped in wrestling.
Maybe the days of having a daily soap is over, but why not shrink it AMC and One Life to Live into a weekly show or make them a half an hour and focus on specific characters everyday. You could also sell the episodes on online or sell DVD packages with best of episodes.
I'm not sure what the ratings currently are on OWN, but airing these soaps on her network would add more eyeballs to OWN.
Okay, so Oprah bailed that's fine.
Dear Forward Thinking Cable Execs,
Soaps can still make money, but there are many ways that you can still make money. I'm sure there is a cable outlet looking to boost ratings someplace.
Soap operas brings a built in fan base, who will follow their favorite show to your network.
If that doesn't work, create a a new soap with production team and/or writers of All My Children and One Life To Live.
Just try one soap and see if it works. If it does, you look like a genius.

(AP) HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Internet star Antoine Dodson has been arrested for possession of marijuana and other minor charges.
Dodson was arrested on five misdemeanor charges after he was stopped for speeding early Saturday morning.
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Department website, he was booked at about 2:30 a.m. but has been released.
Dodson became a reality sensation last year after a televised rant about a break-in at his sister's apartment was turned into a viral video that catapulted the 20-year-old into television appearances, blog mentions and other appearances.
A message on Dodson's Twitter account posted Saturday at about 11:30 a.m. read in part: "Just got out of jail off a weak charge."

Use Your Voice! ABC Cancels Both All My Children & One Life To Live
"All My Children" has been on the air since 1970 ... and "One Life to Live" debuted in 1968.
The only soap remaining on ABC is "General Hospital."
ABC released a statement saying, "Guided by extensive research into what today’s daytime viewers want and the changing viewing patterns of the audience, ABC is evolving the face of daytime television with the launch of two new shows. The replacement shows will focus on health and food." ( Via TMZ).
My Take:
I've been a soap fan since I severely twisted my ankle and started watching Jessie and Angie and Luke and Laura as a kid.
This move by ABC Daytime Chief Brian Frons is a bunch of BS!
Alright so soap operas are not the cash cow they use to be, but there are not more passionate fans to than those who embrace the world of soaps.
Here's my thing, why not shift all the soaps to Soapnet? Oh wait ABC Brian Frons is turning the cable network to another kids channel called Disney Jr.
You can not tell me that you shift AMC, OLTL, Y&R and GH to SoapNet that it wouldn't do well in the ratings. At the very least, a soap channel that has the backing of the right exec can turn a profit and at least be as viable as WE, Spike and Court TV or whatever they call it now.
Over past few years, soap stars has continuously cut their salary to keep their jobs, so in essence the production of a soap can not be as expensive as say most network nighttime shows.
With the cancellation of AMC and OLTL that leaves General Hospital as the only soap on ABC , Days of Our Lives as the only soap on NBC and the top two rated soaps Young and The Restless and Bold & The Beautiful on CBS.
But for how long?
I don't want to see anymore judge shows. I don't want to see anymore knock-offs of The View.
All I want to see is Erica Kane running Pine Valley and Jess turning in Tess and causing havoc in Landview?
Is that too much to ask?

Roy Ayers Project: Trailer: Questlove

Legendary neo-soul musician Roy Ayers will be honored in an upcoming documentary titled 'The Roy Ayers Project.' The film will feature appearances from respected musicians, including Roots drummer Questlove, who will discuss the influence that Ayers had on his musical career.
"Roy Ayers is the godfather of neo-soul, there would be no true understanding of the Roots if it weren't for Roy Ayers," Quest said in the documentary's trailer. "Roy Ayers is the godfather of that whole movement, of the soul movement, of progressive hip-hop. He is the godfather of the movement."
Ayers began his career as a jazz musician and has released more than 20 albums and musical projects between 1967 and 2006, including his two albums 'Vibrations' and 'Everybody Loves the Sunshine.' His songs have been extensively sampled for hip-hop features, including Nas' 'Life Is What You Make It,' DJ Jazzy Jeff's 'We Live in Philly,' Mos Def and Talib Kweli's 'Little Brother' and Tupac's 'Lost Souls.'
Questlove, who has earned himself the status of a modern day hip-hop icon, recently addressed controversial comments from actress Ashley Judd, after she wrote off hip-hop as "rape music" in her new memoir. Quest responded to the jab on Twitter, writing, "EVERY genre of music has elements of violence. It speaks MORE volumes that in rap only a certain side gets promoted [sic]."

Gloria James To Arresting Cop: 'I Don't Trust Your Kind'
The arresting officer says he tried to question 43-year-old Gloria James about the alleged incident at the scene early this morning ... but he got "no response just a stare." After a while, she eventually admitted to having a "minor verbal altercation" with the valet.
The cop says the valet explained that he retrieved James' car and put it on the valet ramp in front of the hotel while Gloria and a female driver stood around talking to people for 30 minutes. Finally, the valet says he turned the car off.
The valet says Gloria then approached him and stated, "Where are my f**king keys and continued yelling profanities at the victim."
The report explains, "Then for no apparent reason the arrestee struck the victim with an open had [sic] across the right side of his face and in the process causing herself to lose her balance and falling to the ground."
After Gloria was transported to a nearby police station, the report continues, a shift commander -- Lt. Acosta -- tried to speak with James who responded, "I'm trying to trust you but I don't trust your kind ... I don't trust that officer who arrested me."
Gloria then told police she "was not going to cooperate because she did nothing wrong."
