I never understood what the big hub-bub over Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction during Superbowl XXXVIII's halftime show.
For 9/16 seconds, America were shocked, shocked I say, when Justin Timberlake tore the side of Janet's top off, exposing her breasts to "poor defenseless children".
The same poor defenseless children who saw Budweiser ads promoting drinking and Viagra commercials, where a guy repeatedly throw a football through a tire.
The aftermath was amazing.
The FCC was so outraged that they wasted taxpayers money on congressional hearings.
American citizens were so outraged, they repeatedly rewound the clip on their TIVO's, DVR's and VCR's.
TV stations were so alarmed that they aired the clip in slow motion repeatedly so viewers could see how disgusting that 9/16 second clip really was in every possible angle.
Five years later, there has been very little change.
The NFL is still making millions of dollars showing beer and erectile dysfunction ads.
Justin Timerlake stumbled until the 2004 Grammys a few weeks later and he is now one of biggest pop stars in the world.
The only real casualty of this "controversy" was Janet Jackson, who has had a few hits, but very chart topping success; life is fair right.
But what about those "poor defenseless children" that the FCC and other "concerned parents" were worried about?
Hmm, besides some of them watching the teen sexual escapades of "Gossip Girl" and texting sexual pictures to each another, I'm not sure what happened to them.
