On his protege W. Kamau Bell: "I'm trying to get him out of his young comic head, and to embrace comedy as a whole. I'm also trying him in other ways. Having a show like this is like being a CEO. I'm trying to get him to be a good boss."
On gun control: "You should have to have a mortgage to buy a gun. No one with a mortgage has ever gone on a spree. A mortgage is a true background check. And if you go to jail for 30 years, you still have to pay the mortgage."
On Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah: "I think he's funny and he's underused," he said of the actor behind SNL's President Obama. "It took him two years to play the black president? Seems odd."
Bell was equally funny, when a reporter asked him, what the W. meant in his name:
"The W is Walter, which is my dad's name but Totally Biased With Walter Bell sounds like an insurance program."
