Emmy Nominations 2009: 30 Rock Receives 22 nods, True Blood Snubbed

The 2009 Emmy nominations was announced today and NBC's 30 Rock led the way with a record setting 22 nominations, (AMC's Mad Men follow with 16 nods).

Not to knock 30 Rock, but 22 nominations?!?
That's a lot for a show that is humorous, but far from a ratings juggernaut like The Cosby Show, Seinfeld and Friends.

Other nominations include Fox's animation hit The Family Guy receiving a nod for Best Comedy, while Lost, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Damages, House and Mad Men will be duking it for the very competitive Outstanding Drama Series category.

This year's biggest subs Scrubs for Outstanding Comedy and HBO's True Blood which was completely left out of Emmy consideration.

Just like with Buffy The Vampire and Angel before it, the Emmy folks for some reason does not like well written vampire shows.

Maybe if Tina Fey was playing True Blood's Sookie than the engaging Ana Paquin, then the show probably would have received got 30 nominations.
