Tori Kelly - Nobody Love (Official Video)

When Arianna Grande first appeared with soring vocals like Mariah Carey, I said "Oh-Oh, there might be young mim-mis coming."

Sure enough, as Grande's star started to rise, and Mariah Carey started to see fewer of her songs being played on the radio, the tide was beginning to turn on the former "Dream Lover."

However, it is not Carey's fault.

It doesn't matter how great you are as an artist, father time will get you. Big Crosby lost out to Frank Sinatra, who lost out to Elvis Presley, who lost out to The Beatles.

Years later, Diana Ross lost her title to Whitney Houston, who eventually had to share hers with Mariah Carey.

Since her debut in 1990, Mariah Carey was star and even when Beyoncé and Rihanna were on their way to snatch Carey's crown in the early 2000s, "The Last Emancipation of Mimi" was on her way to proving that Carey's vocals may be strong as it was on "Vision of Love," but she still knew how to pick great songs.

Yet, once I saw the video for Tori Kelly's, breakout 2015 single, "Nobody Love",where her look and sound is reminiscent of a "Make it Happen" era, I knew the Mimi era was officially over.

Kelly vocally and visually, Kelly is the truth.

Where Arianna Grande has Carey knack of choosing hit songs, she still looks like a little girl, trying to be sexy, while Tori Kelly already has the sexy thing done... now she needs to prove she's more than a one hit wonder.

Time will tell if Grande or Kelly will have a career close to Mariah Carey, but thankfully there is trove of 25 years of music from Maraih to enjoy over and over again.

Must See! Code Oakland - Trailer (@TeachedTV #CodeOakland)

"The latest in the TEACHED short film series, "Code Oakland" examines the evolution of Oakland through the eyes of social entrepreneurs determined that youth of color not be left on the sidelines as Silicon Valley expands into the city that is home to the second largest black community in California. Kalimah Priforce, whose first success as a social justice rebel was a hunger strike at the age of eight, and Kimberly Bryant, a successful electrical engineer turned founder of Black Girls Code, are organizing large-scale hackathons to teach youth how to redesign the future through coding. Joined on the national stage by #YesWeCode founder Van Jones, their work represents the cusp of a movement changing both the face and use of technology in America. But is Silicon Valley ready to be hacked?"
