Harper Gruzins 'worst National Anthem ever' at MLS game

(via YouTube)

Terrible National Anthem by Little Girl.

The fans in attendance for FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy were treated to an unusual rendition of the National Anthem.
11-year-old, Harper Gruzins, gave it her all but could use some fine-tuning before her next big outing.
Bad singing of the National Anthem during soccer games are nothing new to us. Back in May, Victoria Zarlenga, sang one of the more interesting renditions of the Anthem.

I'd say this version is comparable, although Gruzine is younger.
The issue in this version is that she sings the song very, very slow. At least she got a lot of smiling faces from the audience.

Why Are There So Many Murders in Chicago???

While America are still reeling from with the shootings in Colorado during the midnight premiere of the "Dark Knight Rises", the murder count in Chicago continues to grow.

Take a look at this headline today on July 21, 2012: 3 Killed, 18 Hurt In Shootings Since Friday Night.

When Scott Pelley aired the above video on CBS News back in June 12th, 228 murders had taken place.

By July 2nd that number rose to 287 murders.

This horrible tale of lost life has gotten very little coverage the past year, but with violent shooting in Colorado and the focus on gun laws,  here's hoping the media will also take a look at this tragedy as well.

Take a moment and look at the chronicled listing of homicides from Chicago CBS.

If this list doesn't move people to come up with ways to curb the violence on U.S. streets, I don't know what will.

Craig Ferguson Discusses Colorado Shooting Opener on The Late Late Show

When the tragedy happened during the "Dark Knight Rises" shooting in Aurora, Cololrado, most the late night shows were showing episodes that was taped earlier in the week.

Ferguson broke ranks by coming in and commenting about the tragic events.

Ferguson looked and sounded  guilty for airing his free wheeling comedic show on such a day, but give Craigy Ferg credit for sharing his sadness and disbelief with the rest of us.

2012 Emmy Nomations: Walking Dead, Community and Revenge Snubbed!

Shane to Rick: They snubbed us again?

Can you really respect an award show where so many of the most of the deserving are routinely snubbed?

In year's past, I would blast Emmy voters for snubbing game changing shows like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "The Wire, but now its getting ridiculous.

Show's like "The Walking Dead", "Community" and "Renvenge" were  snubbed as were actors Kerry Washington, John Slattery and Madeleine Stowe.

The overlooking for Stowe and "Revenge" were quite shocking because the ABC  nighttime soap was one the major water cooler shows on TV last season; Plus what female character was more fun to watch than Stowe's Victoria Grayson, maybe Kerry Washington's Olivia Pope.

However my biggest gripe is with the snubbing of The Walking Dead.

OK its a show about zombies, but its mush deeper than that. There's no way if any of these any voters watched  the "Better Angels" episode can't tell me that its just as thrilling as watchin Gus and Walt on Breaking Bad, (unless Peter Dinklage wins again, Giancarlo Esposito should win best supporting act for his role as 'Gus' Fring in "Breaking Bad")

In some ways "The Walking Dead" is the new version of "The Wire".

Because while the gritty urban drama watched its fellow HBO shows like "Sex and The City" and "The Sopranos" garner nominations and awards, AMC's top ranked show has to watch "Mad Men" and" Breaking Bad" get invited to the party with the cool kids.

One of the  categories I do find fascinating to watch will be for is for Best Comedy Actor,  where Don Cheadle ("House of Lies") Louis C.K.("Louie") were nominated. Now the question is will Emmy voters go outside box and vote for either or go with Big Bang's Jim Parsons again? (The funny thing is the C.K.'s show "Louie" wasn't nominated for best comedy....try figure that one out).

As long as I live  I will never understandt Emmy's, but as much as I gripe, I will be right there watching the  64th Primetime Emmy Awards, on September 23rd.

(via MTV.com)

"...."I loved her so much, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do [when we got married] ... I just loved her so much," Brand said about the "overwhelming" sense of affection he had for the singer when they tied the knot in India
two years ago. But once they were husband and wife, Brand admitted that he realized, "this isn't really working out, it's a difficult situation ... I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other ... We were together when it was right to be together, and when it wasn't we worked it out ... It was a lovely relationship ... it mostly didn't work for practical reasons ... We did work it out, she's happy, I'm happy." With Brand working on movies and Perry in the studio and on the road, the long distance relationship thing just took a toll on the couple. "She's young, successful and dedicated," he said of his former wife's ambition and drive. "[The reality is] you can't fully understand it until you do it. I was really into the idea of marriage and having children."

Jimmy Fallon Revives Bruce Willis Seagram's Commericial From The 80's

Choosing between the late night shows is always problematic between Fallon, Kimmel and Ferguson but Jimmy Fallon is always must see TV.

During his interview with Joseph Gordon Levitt, the star of the "Dark Knight Rises" was discussing hisother  new flick "Looper" with "Bruce Willis". In the sci-fi film, Gordon-Levitt plays a younger Willlis and Fallon instinctivley started to singing the theme from Bruce Willis Seagrams wine color commercial from the 1980's.

Although most of the audience and Levitt didn't know the commercial, its reminds how funny Bruno...I mean Willis use to be during his "Moonighting" days with Cybil Sheppard

Robert Downey Jr, Iron Man 3 and Ant Man @ The 2012 Comic Con?

Via Wired/Underwire

"...After Marvel’s virtual victory lap, Downey made a literal one as he danced through the aisles of Hall H and onto the stage to talk about the still-in-production Iron Man 3 with the rest of the team. Footage shown from the second shellhead sequel offered a look at Iron Man’s new self-assembling armor, as well as the world’s first peek at Ben Kingsley as supervillain The Mandarin.

“I’ve got three questions,” Downey said, addressing the crowd. “How much do I love you?” (A roar of approval from the crowd.) “Question No. 2: How much do you love me?” (More cheers.) “Question No. 3: Why aren’t we watching any footage yet?” (Pandemonium.)

The Iron Man 3 sneak peek began with Tony Stark talking to the suits of armor showcased in his R&D lab. “Good afternoon ladies, welcome to the birthing suite,” he says. “I’m pleased to announce the arrival of your bouncing, badass, baby brother.”"

Miss Info: Both Young Buck and Beanie Sigel Headed to Prison

(Via Miss Info)

"It’s Young Buck’s time to finally face reality...the former G-Unit rapper was sentenced to 3-years in prison for weapons charges. Last August (2011), Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, was arrested for possession of a .40 caliber handgun and pleaded “not guilty.” He was later released on bond. Not long after...the IRS raided his house over delinquent tax payments of about $300,000. He had his day in court today and was found guilty of weapons possession and will likely serve 18 months in prison.
Unfortunately, there’s more bad news for Buck. The government turned his Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing into a Chapter 7 liquidation case. They claim he still owes creditors: $11.5 million.
....Philly’s own Beanie Sigel will also have to turn himself in to serve a 2 year prison sentence over unpaid taxes. The Philadelphia government says Sigel owes over $700k in delinquent taxes. Apparently, Sigel made over $3 million from 1999-2002 but only paid $10,000 in taxes. Beanie must turn himself in on September 12."

Nas Live at the 2012 ESPYS

One of the things that bugs me about the ESPY Awards is that ESPN will not put up clips after the show ends. They are not the only ones to do this, but what better way to increase buzz of a show if the more television newtorks works with bloggers and websites to allow them to embed videos?

Case in point Nas' performace on the ESPY's.

Outside of this clip I scoured the net to find, TV viewers were not able to see Nasir Jones full performances during the commerical breaks.

Its one thing for ESPN not allow me access of clip of Jessica Biel presenting at the ESPY's, but putting up content of Nas' performances would have given ESPN some buzz that would have led back to the replay for the awards show or least a special featuring his performances on ESPN U.

Breaking Bad Meets The Dark Knight Rises in “Breaking Batman”

With the the" Breaking Bad" mashup and Jimmy Fallon inserting Pee Wee Herman's voice in a "Dark Night Rises" trailer, Chistopher Nolan's third bat flick is gaining a ton of free publicity thanks to social media.

Its going to be interesting if future blockbusters will forego TV ads completely and let their fans build free buzz on social newtworks.

Bye Crazy Uncle Steven: Aerosmith Frontman Leaves American Idol

Word came down today that Steven Tyler is leaving American Idol.

When I heard that J-Lo might be leaving show, I didn't really care. Sure she was hot, but wasn't a good judge.

While Tyler wasn't much better as a judge, he was great on the show because you didn't know what he would say, especially during the show's audition period.

When it came to the live shows, it felt like the the producers told Steven "no references about muffins Mr. Tyler", which kept the family value vibe going, but sort of neutered the Aerosmith frontman's rock and roll vibe.

Tyler was a great replacement to the fill the looney holes left by Paula Abdul,  (did you see how Simon Cowell filled that slot by putting Britney Spears on X-Factor).

Although I like the idea of adding rumored judge and former idol contestant Adam Lambert, who do you think should be added to the panel?

Frank Ocean Perfroms "Bad Religion" on Jimmy Fallon

About this time a decade ago, if you said that you were shot a bunch of times likes 50 cent, you automatically garnered a lot of press.

My have times change.

When Frank Ocean discussed his sexuality on his Tumblr, his announcement created a new paradigm between artist and audience.

This is not to say that Ocean was hoping that his reveal would give him publicity, but overnight Frank Ocean's name is more topical than it was two weeks ago.

I wonder if more artists will follow suit. Not to reveal that they are gay, but to open themselves up open and honestly?

R&B was like that once, until more of its stars followed the sexual playbook of R. Kelly. However, the one thing that Chris Brown and others dropped was the vulnerable side of Kells.

Here's hoping that Frank Ocean musicality and openness will create a new wave of R&B, where its OK being just who you are.

Justin Bieber Hangs Up On Mojo in Moring After Being Compared to Justin Timberlake

Hey Beibs, make songs that doesn't sound like JT and you won't hear the comparions. However Timberlake also got grief when critics compared him to Michael Jackson when the "Like I Love You" video came out.
