2009 American Music Awards Performaces: Janet Goes Baggy, Jennifer Falls and Taylor Swift Wins 5 Awards?!?!

On Sunday night, ABC aired the American Music Awards.

Back in the day, Dick Clark's award show was the place to be, where artists who didn't get their due at the Grammy's were recognized for rheir musical achievements.

Now it seems like the AMA's is merely a place to promote new songs.

There were plenty of performances at the AMA's, but no real shocks, (except for maybe Jennifer Lopez briefly falling down briefly during her performance.

The biggest shock of the night would probably be that Taylor Swift won five awards, (which included "Artist of The Year").

Although a still exiled Kanye West was wrong for snatching the mic from her at the MTV Awards, his analysis might not be that far off.

Talor Swift seems like sweet girl, but they fact the music consumers are being sold that she's the new face of country music (where's my Loretta Lynn's , Tammy Wynette's and Dixie Chicks) and that she had a bigger music impact this year than Lady GaGa, The Black Eyed Peas or even a deceased Michael Jackson is a joke.

As Wynona Judd told USA Today after Taylor Swift won "Entertainer of the Year" award at the recent the Country Music Awards, " It's too much too soon."

Very true Wynona, too bad you had to apologize like Kanye West on your website a few days later.

Janet Jackson Kicks off The AMA's in baggy pants and a medley of hits

Black Eyed Peas -Meet Me Halfway

Jay-Z & Alicia Keys -Empire State of Mind (The "New York, New York" of the 21st century)

Shakira-Give Up To Me

Jennifer Lopez Falls during her boxing inspired performance

Lady GaGa Performing Bad Romance & Speechless with a flaming piano

Rihanna-Hard & Wait Your Turn

Alicia Keys -Make it Without you (I'm not really understading the whole super hero concept).

Kelly Clarkson -Already Gone

Eminem performs Crack A Bottle and Forever with 50 Cent. (Doesn't it seem like a decade ago that Marshall was dominate rapper of this deade?)

Mary J. Blidge - I Am

Timbaland with So Shy & Nelly Furtado performs Morning After Dark, (I'm not feeling the song, but it's good to see Nelly Furtado back).

Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment (The AMA's was hyping Adam's performace all night. It was cool, but nothing spectacular).
