Say What?? Tom Hanks Son Rapping – Chet Haze “White & Purple”

( Via Pop Crunch)

When your Dad’s Forrest Gump, you don’t really have “Street Cred.”

Apparently there’s been some delay in delivering that memo to Chet Hanks…or Chet Haze, as he prefers to be called.

Chet, the son of Oscar winner Tom Hanks, is a sophomore at Northwestern University with an acting resume that includes turns in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Bratz: The Movie. Once interested in the field that made his dad a household name, Chet’s abandoned acting and turned his attention to fine-tuning his talents (We’re using this term loosely…) as a hip-hopster. And just like an self-respecting lyricist, he’s made his rap debut with a track about kegs, blunts, and girls.

Not necessarily in that order.

This week, Chet released the hip-hop-tanged track “White and Purple (Northwestern Remix).” It’s an ode to his college life at the prestigious Northwestern and a parody of Wiz Khalifa’s charttopping Pittsburgh Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow.” Though the critical reception (ie: Commentary from YouTubers…) has been far less than favorable, Chet’s showing no signs of slowing down. We’ll allow you to decide whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.
