Project X Might Be One of the Best Party Soundtracks of All Time!

Once upon time, when the word MP3 sounded like a character from a "Star Wars" , the movie soundtrack was a staple of the music industry.

It is impossible not to think of Prince's "Purple Rain" movie without the soundtrack and the same goes for  Bee Gee's "Saturday Night Fever", Issac Haye's "Shaft", "Footloose" and John Hughe's "Pretty in Pink", "St. Elmo's Fire" and "Breakfast Club".

The reasons these songs were successful were because you could place a song with a specific scene or scenes in a movie.

If you take Public Enemy's "Fight The Power" out of Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing", the film  would still be good, but something would be missing because PE's song played a major role in the film and in a lot of ways, Fight The Power was a character itself.

However sometime after the Whitney Huston's soundtracks for "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Bodyguard", the soundtrack died because record companies became greedy and stuffed  throwaway songs that nothing to do with the movie onto soundtracks or it would have only a few songs that was featured in the film.

By the end of the 90's, the soundtrack was dead.

Hello Project X!

Just Like John Travolta walking down the street with the Bee Gee's "Staying Alive", the 2 Live Crew's “We Want Some Pu**y” set the tone for the 2012 hit film.

What followed was a dizzying array of Hip Hop classics by AMG, Trick Daddy and Dead Prez mixed with booty shaking dance tracks by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, KId Cudi and Lil Jon

The amazing thing is that I can't buy the "Project X" soundtrack on Amazon.

Are you serious?

The only Project X movie soundtrack on Amazon was one featuring Matthew Broderick back in his "Ferris Bueller" days, (I know he's older now, but what to that guy, he was so cool back in the day)

There is a "Project X" soundtrack on Itunes, but there are only 13 songs!?!?

If I was Todd Phillips, I will be calling people from Music Space or the Now series and cut a deal with them and Target to  put a double album soundtrack out  ASAP!

Believe me, I'm sure people will buy it.

In the meantime, thanks to  Indie Wire, here is the song list from "Project X".

Just remember if you are going to have a party using these songs, watch out if one of your decorations is a Santa gnome.
