Complete list of 85th Annual Academy Award Nominations

The snubs for this year's Oscars were insane this year as Ben Affleck (Argo) Kathryn Bigelow ("Zero Thirty Dark"), Quentin Tarantino (Django) were shut out of the best director category.

Affleck's snub is quite surprising because a few months ago, most thought that the Oscars was going to be big night for his film "Argo".

On the acting side, both Matthew McConaughey and Javier Bardem received no love for their villainous roles in "Magic Mike" and "Skyfall" respectively, whil  the "Django" acting quartet of Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L Jackson, Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx received zero nominations.

Although "Lincoln" received the most nominations with 12 nominations, watch for David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playback" to be the big winner for Oscar night.

Russell who didn't have the greatest reputation back in the day (his fight with George Clooney on the set of "Three Kings" is legendary) , has clawed his way back towards Hollywood's good graces in recent years.

First with  the Oscar  nominated film  "The Fighter' with Mark Wahlberg a few years ago  and now with "Silver Linings Playbook starring new Hollywood favorites  Bradley Cooper (The Hangover)  and Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games).

While David O Russell's sinner to saint is a comeback story that Hollywood loves, the better tale would have been the race between him and Oscar-snubbed counterparts Affleck, Bigelow and Tarantino for Best Director

Ironically,  the  trio  he trio of Affleck, Bigelow and Tarantino  will be  fighting  out with  Steven Spielberg for Best Director at this Sunday's Golden Globes , but without David O. Russell who was snubbed for that awards ceremony.
